Information regarding COVID-19

Update on Situation 

The current situation is unprecedented and the entire SamBoat team is working hard to ensure continuity of service. We are always available by mail and phone to help you in the management of your reservations.

The progression of the epidemic in Europe seems to be slowing down and a potential end date of quarantine is set for sometime in May. Even though the situation is slowly improving, the borders of the Schengen zone will remain closed even after this date.

This however will not impede holidays in your home country and therefore there may be a possibility that nautical activities can resume in the coming months. Please check with your concerned maritime authority for regular updates. 

As our team is faced with a large number of requests, the delays in processing cancellations have increased. We have given priority to the closest departures.

 

Cancellation conditions for confirmed bookings

To deal with this exceptional situation, we have implemented a special cancellation policy. We advise any party sailing before 11/05/2020 to postpone or cancel their sailing outing.

 

Eligibility requirements

The rentals concerned must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Rentals with a departure date between March 15th and May 11th, 2020.
  • Rentals whose departure date is between May 12th and May 31st 2020 and that the traveller or owner cannot go to the place where the boat is to be taken for the following reasons:
    • Cancellation of flight or ground transportation initiated by the transportation company due to COVID-19 - Obligation to work related to medical or health field (official document required)
    • Tested positive or suspected of being infected with Covid-19 (medical document required)

 

Rescheduling and cancellation procedures

It is possible to postpone the rental without charge for a departure within the next 18 months.

To do this, you have to click on the button "modify the booking" directly on your SamBoat space, on your booking.

If you can't see the option to reschedule, you can make a cancellation request. You will then be able to benefit from a rental credit in the form of a coupon that can be used several times on future confirmed rentals within 18 months of the cancellation of the initial rental. The renter will be informed of the cancellation terms and conditions applicable to their rental when the cancellation request is processed.

The rental credit allows for renting at later dates, and will be deducted from the amount of the new rental by entering the coupon at the time of payment.

In case of subscription to the cancellation insurance, this insurance is being proposed by an entity external to SamBoat, the amount of this insurance will not be refunded.

 

Terms and conditions of postponing your rental

To postpone the rental date, just click on the "modify the reservation" button directly on your SamBoat space, on your reservation. This modification must be validated by the owner. Depending on the availability of the boat and the chosen rate period, the price may be readjusted.

 

Terms and conditions concerning owners

In the event of a cancellation for an eligible charter, the boat owner will not incur any cancellation fees and their positive response rate will not be affected. If the client chooses a refund in the form of a credit, the owner will not be entitled to his compensation.

 

New bookings

It is possible to make new bookings to sail this summer. Many owners have decided to loosen their cancellation conditions, so if the advertisement contains the "flexible cancellation" badge, it is possible to cancel free of charge until the day before departure, without having to give a valid reason.

 

Rental process as of June 2nd

Rentals after the end date of confinement may take place if all safety conditions are met. Each boat will have to undergo a special sanitary cleaning and follow a process of handling respecting the instructions of social distancing.

We will send you an instruction sheet as soon as the instructions concerning the boat rental are established by the competent authorities. For now, please use this sheet that follows Samboat's recommended rental guidelines. 

 

 

Sailing Internationally 

 Before renting a boat internationally, we strongly suggest you check with the government to find out the latest updates regarding travelling and sailing.
